13 How to Be Saved by Grace Through Faith
Edition 2026 10 03 R2 | Operative only upon authorized adoption
The need for salvation
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, while eternal life is God's gift
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Personal improvement or religious performance cannot supply God's
righteousness. Read Romans 3:10 KJB; Romans 3:23 KJB; Romans 5:12 KJB; Romans 6:23 KJB.
The Gospel of Christ
God commended His love toward us in that Christ died for us while we were sinners. Paul declares the Gospel
in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJB: Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, was buried, and rose again the
third day according to the scriptures. The saving work is His. Read Romans 5:8-9 KJB; Romans 1:16 KJB; 1
Corinthians 15:1-4 KJB.
Faith apart from works
The sinner is justified freely by grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus. Believe on Him who justifies the
ungodly; do not offer works as payment for salvation. Church membership, water baptism, giving, ordination, a
ceremony, or repeating a prescribed prayer cannot replace trust in Christ and His finished work. Read Romans
3:24-28 KJB; Romans 4:5 KJB; Galatians 2:16 KJB; Ephesians 2:8-9 KJB.
Assurance and a new life
Believers are sealed with the holy Spirit of promise and unto the day of redemption. In Christ they are new
creatures. Good works are the result of God's work in the saved believer, not the price of obtaining the gift.
Growth follows through Scripture rightly divided, sound teaching, prayer, and fellowship. Read Ephesians 1:13-
14 KJB; Ephesians 4:30 KJB; 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJB; Ephesians 2:10 KJB; 2 Timothy 2:15 KJB.
Invitation to study
Simply believe the Gospel of Christ. This teaching outline uses Paul's epistles, Romans through Philemon, for
salvation in the present Dispensation of the Grace of God. Its administrative use does not permit TGBC to
declare salvation granted or revoked by a membership decision.
